  • POLL: Getting A ME Stripe

Are you planning on getting a stripe on your ME?

Lots and lots of stripes on C7’s. Are you considering getting one on your ME?

    Before voting, please note:

    1) That there are tactful ways to say “no thanks,” and posts which are not tactful will be erased.

    2) Lot of different categories of stripes listed below, so thanks for reading them all carefully before you vote.

    38
“No thanks” for any kind of stripe on my ME.
    34.21%
    13
I will consider it after I have seen a few ME’s, but right now probably not going to get one.
    26.32%
    10
About a 50% chance I will get one — though again, will need to see ME’s before deciding.
    13.16%
    5
Likely to only get a hood stripe — but must see the ME first.
    2.63%
    1
Likely to get a complete hood/roof/rear deck stripe — but again must see.
    7.89%
    3
All is possible, from “none”, to just hood, to all-in, but no inclination nor decision now.

Maybe some shadow stripes, or shadow flames. Look pretty cool on dark colors

It used to be that few exotics came with stripes, yet recently one of the top reveals at this year’s #1 auto show, Geneva, was used by Ferrari to feature its $340K, 711 HP Pista (“track”). Maybe even exotics will be just at home with stripes as some other cars?

Yet at that same show, the Lamborghini Huracan did not have any stripes anywhere.

A stripe might look interesting, but I'd have to see the car first. If it's anything like the FVS or even ACS renders though, then a stripe might look out of place on the hood imo (unless it's like the Grand Sport ones on the side)

While l love the hood stripe I had painted on my C7 (a touch different from GM’s vinyl version), I am not sure whether one would fit on the mid engine — for especially the hood’s final appearance is one area we are not yet positive on. Could be a nice addition; could be a misfit based on its shape. The reveal will go a long way to help many of us figure this out, as will renderings afterwards with differing hood and/or complete body stripes.

Not, in general, a fan of stripes on road cars. When I had a Miata, one of the moderately popular mods people did was what they called "ghost stripes." A matt clear stripe over the gloss paint. Very subtle, and I kind of liked that. Last weekend I saw a black C7 with matte black stripes. Also subtle, and not bad looking. That's probably the only look I'd consider in terms of stripes.

Ferrari only puts stripes on it's high performance models (e.g., Pista, Speciale), as a way to differentiate them from the "regular" cars (488, 458).

We had a new Viper coupe back is 2008 among our toys. It was Viper Blue with the silver stripes. I always felt that a Viper Coupe was 'naked' without a stripe. That was back when the stripe was actually painted. I'm not particularly excited about 'tape' stripes but if they're the right color, they look kinda' neat on the C7 coupes. If it gives the car the right 'vibe' I'll order it with the stripe. If they are not a factory option, I'll pass.....
2020 HTC Torch Red with lots of goodies. Built in September. Museum Delivered in October......

A happy Ferrari owner with their car’s hood stripe and matching roof treatment:

I like stripes that are well done. I think we'll have to wait and see how the front/nose of the hood turns out, and whether that will work well with a strip or not. I like the defining ribs angled, coming to a point at the nose that we've seen on some of the renderings. If that's what we get, I think that will make for a great looking hood/nose. But maybe not one that would lend itself to a stripe.

I really couldn't agree more with this statement.

Great analysis OnPoint! We have got to see the car in person to begin to figure this out.
