  • Vertical Doors Inc. hello MECF

Hello MECF members. I hope everyone is having a Vertical Day! I'm Vertical Nick. You may recognize me from our YouTube videos. I am very excited to be on the forum here and be able to get in front of C8 owners directly in a more informal setting, so that you can ask questions and find out the info you are looking for when considering whether a Vertical Doors Inc. Vertical door kit is right for you. Furthermore, I'm looking to engage with both existing and potential new customers. We want to make sure nobody gets scammed (not mentioning any names) and that everyone has the best experience possible when it comes to our product. We are also very interested in getting your feedback about who did your install and if you would recommend them or not. Please feel free to reach out to me regarding any Vertical Door needs.

P.s. We have set up a 10% discount for MCEF members. Just click here, add the kit to the cart, and when you check out enter code ME10 for the discount.

    Hi there,

Unfortunately the only one that can honor Eikon's "Lifetime Warranty" on labor is Eikon themselves. After what we've seen from them, you may not want them working on your car again anyways. I would recommend you either talk to one of the local shops in Phoenix that are Vertical Doors Inc. dealers/installers on our website or plan on making a road trip to us to fix it for you. I recommend AZ Motor Trendz because they have done a bunch of C8's. You may have to spend some money but you will get them fixed right and you will create that relationship with the shop so you have somewhere to take it in the future. Please reach out to me if I can help you further. Thanks!

How much do these door hinges cost and how much is the estimated labor to install.

That's what I would like to know also.
2LT, Silver Flare coup, Adrenaline Red, Mag ride, Front lift, Stek roof wrap, Aerolarri Brushed Aluminum wheels, AMG front splitter, Scrape Armor splitter guard, ACS engine cover, American Car Craft Engine dress up kit.

$2.8k for the kit. Install probably varies based on the shop.

Hey C8RRacing and jlc41 , the kits are $2899 and with the code ME10 you can get 10% off. The labor cost definitely depends on the shop but i would say that between $1500-$2500 is a reasonable range. We charge $1900 for labor. Also, a good and experienced installer should be able to do an install in one day, but some of them take longer. As long as they have done our kits and have good reviews, it doesn't necessarily mean they are learning on your car, or that they don't know what they are doing, it just means they are going to take their time and do it right.

VerticalNick I can't recall if the Z06 front fenders are different than the base C8. If not, sounds easy, if so, ya'll going to make a Z06 version?

Hi P-Tree. We are in the process of finding out if it will fit. If not we will definitely make another version to accommodate the new Z06 Model. We will report back shortly with pictures once we get the doors on one. Please stand by!

Just a little update, we did find out that the current kit does not fit on the Z06. We will be coming out with one specifically for the Z06 as soon as we can get out hands on one. If anyone here has one and wants to be the first please reach out to me.

I've got a set of your hinges, installed Dec'21 by Eikon. I don't think he ever tightened the striker locking nut and that nut is almost impossible to access with the fender on (and I'm loathe to remove the fender). But I've gotten very good at periodically reaching the striker bolt with my 3/16 allen wrench and giving it a clockwise turn to adjust.

My real problem is the hinges sound like something from a haunted house. I notice all sorts of grease fittings in the pictures on your VDI Tech Tips, but I don't see any recommendations about how often they need to be greased or how in the world to reach them without, again, removing fenders.

I know Eikon is not coming across the country (I'm in KY) to apply grease. Do you have a partner over this way?

I love the vertical doors, though.

Wish I had a Z06 you could borrow!

If you support the weight of the door with some object, like a stepping stool with some sort of padding, like a towel, bubble wrap, foam, etc, you can completely remove that adjustment stud. once you have it in your hand you can screw the nut down no problem. you may have to take it in and out a few times to get it perfect, but that should prevent you from having to remove the fenders.

The other thing i would be weary of is that they were not putting the pins in the bottom of the shock. We use a roll pin but any sort of cotter pin, split pin, or even some wire is better than not having anything at all.

I will post our "Warning/Congratulations" manual. It has all the maintenance recommendations. You can reach the grease fittings through the wheel well. You probably have to lift the car and remove the wheel, then remove the fasteners from the liner. You will want a grease gun with a flexible hose. It also helps to have one with a locking, easy release style fitting, because the normal grease gun tips grab really good and people break the grease fittings trying to get the tool off the fitting. We recommend adding grease every 1-2 years but if you keep the car inside that might not even be necessary. My dad has had them on his C6 since 2010 and he has never greased them.

Most likely your noise is coming from the shock bearing. You should be able to take care of it with a can of spray lubricant. I will also post a video on this too, if you look under the "Vertical Doors" section you should see two new posts shortly

it looks like we have Murphy’s Customs in Louisville.
