The reference is from Autoblog, and Fox News has reported it too, refering to Autoblog. According to Torque News what they said is that head designer Simcoe "thinks the 2020 Chevy Corvette orders have already hit the first year of production numbers." It's not sold out in that regards.

MacMulkin is correct; The 2020 is not sold out, in fact GM backtracked from that statement earlier made, later yesterday, talking about its unprecedented sales, but again noting the 2020 Stingray is far from sold out overall.

GM Communications Manager Mike Kelly had this to say after that unfortunate and inaccurate earlier comment Made by Michael Simcoe:

Chevrolet spokesman Kevin Kelly told Motor Authority, “the level of enthusiasm around the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has surpassed all expectations. We have nothing to report in terms of reservations or order numbers at this time.”
