  • Another C8 Patent: Vehicle Ride-Height Dependent Control Of Air Deflector

GM has another aero patent that we well could see on a C8, e.g., one filed under category of an air deflector, specifically entitled a “Vehicle Ride-Height Dependent Control Of Air Deflector.

Again no surprise, that this patent was also located by Jeremy Welborn, aka “jagamajajaran” who has personally found more C8 ME potential patents than any one else, and I know that he is looking for a major additional one between now and 7.18.19.

    Primary Description/Purpose:

From the patent abstract/body, it is defined as a system that has “an air deflector moveably mounted to the vehicle body. The system also includes a mechanism configured to selectively vary a height of a deflector relative to the road surface and the position of the defective relative to the vehicle body.”

It further is configured “to regulate the mechanism to select the target ride height of the deflector to the road surface to “control the aerodynamics of the vehicle.”

Lastly, its purpose is “to determine ride height and to determine of a pitch of the vehicle relative to the road surface.”

Note that this patent is different from the “Adjustable Splitter Patent” GM separately filed.

I'm sure there is a plethora of patents in process related to the C8 aero related and others... Great find

      Another great find, thanks Jag.
These are all interesting but I hate to see more complexity. Just more to go wrong and an expense to fix it.

Front and rear spoiler deploying at speed would be cool.

ride height raise and lower would ge as well...but the complexity and weight would be a concern...

Agree, keep adding more trick parts, and we arrive with a 4000 lb Corvette

18 linked above, each one with every one of the detailed pages/drawing. I agree that there sure could be more. Jag is looking for a special one, but he will not share what he is working on. We stand by to be surprised later.

My 1991 and 1993 3000GT VR-4 had active aero. Along with all wheel steering, active suspension, and active exhaust. Ah, the Japan Bubble Year cars, good times.
