As in this one, which I call the duckbilled platypus camo treatment. (Or just plain hideous camo if you would prefer.)

Yes and that is a Jersey barrier. Looks at speed. Camo seems to be catching air. Probably do better without the camo.

Agreed; that ugly protrusion is kind of like an air dam, and it sure messes up the air flow.

Why do the c8 corvettes have dual rear calibers?

I forgot to mention in all the excitement that the "Z" shape behind the B pillar is a dead giveaway for the coupe's rear hatch line. Another reason that it's a coupe.

              One is the parking brake?

I was wondering if it was part of regenerative braking?

Its so weird because the rear braking system is not as important in braking as the front and gm is so intent on dropping grams of weight in a vehicle...especially the corvette...

                why add a second caliber?

that would be a lot of extra weiht for a parking brake function?

your guess is s good as mine...

Remember you’re talking mid engine. More weight on the rear so maybe more rear braking.

True, but even rear-engined Porsche's only have a single caliper. Adding more pistons to a single caliper might make sense, but two calipers doesn't seem necessary.

Perhaps the second caliper is for a parking brake, and lighter than the center hub drum brake on current Corvettes? But my other cars don't have a rear drum or a second rear caliper, and the parking brakes seem to work fine just using the primary caliper.

One thing we know is that C7’s braking was fantastic, in fact many times setting records for 60-to-0 amounts. GM will neither have worse brakes on the C8, nor will they have a brake set up that weighs more.

It is the parking brake. I believe in Europe it's required now to have two separate systems in case one fails. The 720S, for instance, has the same thing:

Thank you NewYuriCity for sharing that Euro-requirement with us. I sure had not heard of it. ****, another caliper to try and reach through the spokes to clean.

The concrete barriers to keep cars from going over the median creating head on collisions. Wondering if an urban myth or first done in New Jersey?

And more pricey to get yet another set of calipers painted in your favorite option color
