  • ME Public Roads’ Spotting North of Detroit

Thanks to “rhurren505” for finding and sharing this great news with us, and also thank you foran assist to from f-16pilotTX to get this to our attention.

Notice the headlight LED strip (this confirms what was “quietly” known before, can now publicly surfaced).

As one reads through this thread, as we know from seeing different license plates, and different spoilers (and so much more) that we are looking at two different cars.
Might we be looking at a entry and also a Z-51 version?

    Thank you very much!

That is a very good sign that GM is comfortable testing them again on the public roads. Maybe since the electrical issue was first seen here in June, that is coming to a close, OR, maybe they are doing an interim fix for the purpose of more real world testing. In either case, if there were experiencing intermittent electrical break downs, then they sure would only have been testing them at “closed locations,” e.g. Milford Proving Ground, Yuma GM test site and similar.

Here some limited details about the find.

Port Huron is about an hour north of Detroit, just south of southern terminus of Lake Huron, just across from Sarnia, Ontario.

So many questions about the ME right now; so few answers yet.

Yeah, the C8 is far from hibernating. I am look forward to the first rendering with that LED strip being the “eyebrow” of the headlight design.

The LED headlight stripe is intriguing, Kind of takes the eye visually out and to the side of the car. Going to have the car appear wider, and IMO sexy. Renderers, as C8Driving said, we are looking for you to help us see this feature better.

Can someone please help me figure out what is that “lip” just above the front grille please? Just a new form of camo disguise?

            My observations...

IMO we are looking at different camo. The side Q window "dark area... fake, to throw off the real side. look

New extended rear deck window camo to hide the real lines. We actually know what the rear window looks like from the patent and it is what we saw at the Ring.

I think we are seeing a bit more of the headlamp lighting features. The LED strip.

            A different looking rocker/sill.

And there looks to be something now filling the scoop area. An insert maybe?

I don't see anything new in the grill and tail lights. All I see is black mesh covering it all up.

..The scoop overhang on the door is not as deep as it looks earlier. (open door image) ..and just look at those arm rests !

There does appear to be a large fish lip on the nose now. Maybe keeping in the fish-like design themes ? ; )

Also blacked out the McDonalds wheels...

I tried lightning up the image but the resolution is too low to see anything worth while.

Maybe we will get some better images?

Not having that spoiler on my ME. That is not my idea of beautiful. Still hoping that we get an entry version, a la the C7, that is devoid of a spoiler (the non Z-51 version). ACS Composite, we need you now more than ever. Got those initial molds of your beautiful, elegant-looking spoiler done yet LOL?

this is a different car than the first one. Different car. Different lic plate and it has the Ring spoiler.

If you remember, the Black tarp mules had different "spoilers" too. If I remember correctly the black wheel vert had the spoiler and the McDonald wheels had little to no visible spoiler.

Maybe its a widebody? Check out that driver's side-rocker. And is that Harlan driving?

Really nice catch about the rockers. I think it could well be Harlan driving.

I believe the side skirts have changed compared to what we saw at the ring.

Great observations above. It is very exciting to see the C8’s again testing in the wild. That says to me that GM is confident enough for that to happen; they are not concerned about a repeat of putting it on a flat bed that happened in June due to an electrical issue.
Looking forward to our ME arriving.

That is an amazing rake to the windshield. As noted above, those are much wider rockers than we have seen before. Could this be the Z06 version?
A rumor way back was that the C8 Z06 was only 5/8” wider in each of the fenders, so maybe? [In comparison the C7 Z06’s fenders are each 1 1/2” wider.]
