Not a design I would personally chose to own. I’m sure it’s a great sports sedan or sports coupe. Just not my favorite .

some often in podcasts call it a monkey butt front end…and it is a funny resemblance.

in person it’s not as offensive ..not something I’d spend my money on but the guys love it like they did the bangle butt years back..


it certainly unique and stands apart from the rest which some would suggest has tremendous value.

not what I would chose but I was never really a Bmw fan ever. I admire them. Just don’t want to own one.

But, the shape helps on some designs. On that Lotus, a US-style plate either partially blocks airflow to the radiators or drags on the ground.

Oregon requires a front plate, but sometimes one has to be willing to pay a fine instead of the alternative, especially in this configuration (Scrape Armor picture with their three grilles installed, with OEM license plate holder insert removed).

I will be nice and respectful if stopped and hope to get a warning due to the cooling needs of its 670 HP world recording breaking motor. The Officer will already have noted our rear plate “WRP SPD.” Wish me luck.

I remember in previous threads John showing the stealth front license plate holder that www.stonsho.com makes for traveling on the road legally displaying the front license plate that is removeable easily when parked. Very nice solution for most cars. In Texas we are required to show one. I will put the stonsho on my Z06 for travelling only.
But to John's point the vast majority of police in states with front license plate requirements are going to leave you alone if you are not displaying one and you are not doing something illegal on the road. I never gave someone a ticket unless they ask me to by showing me a horrible attitude. Most cops are car lovers too but when someone who has a sporty car and bad attitude sometimes that doesn't end well. Respect and kindness are always a good trait to exihibit on traffic stops at least it was with me.

Here’s the sto-n-show on our C8. It is a good solution, especially that it comes off for the “show” part in literally 10 seconds without any tools, goes back in same amount.

Since 2006 in Oregon I have owned 9 Corvettes and 1 got a fix it ticket in which I put the plate on for a photo for the ticket then removed in around 2007. Never bothered since. Seems they have bigger fish to fry.

Just a couple of things..... Texas requires a 'front license plate'. I have NEVER.... I mean NEVER attached one to a car I've owned and registered here in Texas. Every year I sign the petition to eliminate the front plate and save the state millions! The government logic is that, "What are we going to do to keep the convicts busy?". Seriously, that's their official position.

I do volunteer work for the police department in our little town and the chief is adamant that the officers have better things to do besides write a ticket to a local citizen for a missing front plate. He does support the law though because he can use it as 'probable cause' to stop a suspicious vehicle.

Just watch.... tomorrow I'll venture outside the city limits and get arrested....

It primarily depends upon the local PD where you live. Mine is an enforcer, and it is probable cause for a stop with a fine, and it stays on your record. The aesthetics issue is not a concern of mine, and I don't particularly enjoy being stopped.

I've had Sto-N-Sho brackets on an F-Type, my current Porsche, and 2 C7s, and they are high-quality products. However, on the C8, I like the location with the cover plate removed, and without using the supplied mount.

Originally the reason that states wanted to require front license plates is because the reflective paint on the plate will give the speed radar guns much further range of detection. Now it is a tool for the toll booth readers and other camera capture devises looking for stolen vehicles.
