First 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 Sells For $500K At Charity Auction

Since the official reveal of the GMC Hummer EV, much of the attention has centered around the Hummer EV Pickup, as it was the first variant to go on sale in the U.S. Anticipation has been building around the Hummer EV SUV, and now, the first production-spec supertruck has sold at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction just before the vehicle’s start of regular production on January 29th, 2023.
Selling on January 28th for a cool $500,000, this particular unit is a 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition 1. It’s worth noting that the first production example of the Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 sold for $2.5 million at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction in 2021, while another GMC Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 sold at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas last year for “only” $325,000.
All the proceeds from this auction will be donated to Tread Lightly!, a non-profit organization that focuses on promoting outdoor ethics in order to balance the needs of outdoor enthusiasts with the need to maintain healthy ecosystems and thriving populations of fish and wildlife.
As an Edition 1 example, this Hummer EV SUV is painted in the exclusive Moonshot Green Matte paint and features the Infinity Roof feature, with removable and transparent Sky Panels that can be stored in the eTrunk up front. On the inside, the electric SUV is finished in the Lunar Shadow interior theme, and complemented by Tech Bronze accents.
In regards to powertrain, the Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 is actually down on power as compared to the Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1, as the all-electric SUV develops a maximum output of 830 horsepower, but still offers 11,500 pound-feet of wheel torque thanks to the GM Ultium Drive motors and GM Ultium batteries.
As for structure, the Hummer EV SUV rides on the GM’s dedicated “Ulti-body” electric BT1 platform, which also underpins the upcoming Chevy Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV pickup trucks, albeit as a different, “narrow-body” version.
Pricing for the 2024 Hummer EV SUV started at $105,595, but as the first production model, it’s no surprise that this particular model sold for an extra $400,000 over MSRP.
