  • My Corvette Club’s Car Show Today

Short 1 minute video of our Corvette show. What fun ! I was one of the judges and what a tough time it was, for the quality of 90% of the cars was terrific. Nice people, perfect weather, fantastic location, great and reasonably priced vendor food (we had 11 vendors in all), and nicely we made a good amount of money for our local “Liberty House” (a non-profit which helps abused children in a superb, multi-disciplinary setting in their own custom built house on a nice amount of property)

Our Corvette Club is called WillametteValley Corvette Club (WVCA). While we are not the biggest in Oregon, our show yesterday attracted more Corvettes than any other Corvette show yet this year.

I have been to longer and fancier shows, but could not be more proud of what we collectively accomplished. I especially enjoyed promoting and answering questions about the PNW part of this August’s National Corvette Caravan, and separately, no surprise, spent time promoting our forum (got some wonderful new members already).

Fantastic! And how wonderful that your club is making such a positive difference in the lives of abused children!

I was as far from the camera as possible, but as close to inspecting each car as time allowed. We spend hours judging. What I liked was all the “regular awards” were participant selected, all those for Best C5 convertible, Best C7 coupe, etc. Those were the overwhelming amount of awards.

I should have taken a picture of one row that had no cars at all (what a lonely place), with its entrance sign reading “C8’s”. That sparked some good conversations, especially one comment I heard, which we all would expect, “wait until next year.”

The collection of C1 and C2’s was amazingly large. We were pleasantly surprised for only a total of four in those two classes had pre-registered. Maybe they were waiting on the weather to make their decisions. The forecast that morning was 0% rain. It started with a continuous light cloud cover in the mid 50’s, quickly got us to a mixture of mostly clouds and intermittent spots sun in the mid 60’s by 10:00, and by just after noon it had changed to 100% sun, ending up in the mid 70’s.

We went from 103 pre-registered to the 160 who finally had registered by 11:00 AM. We even ran out of registration forms. Next time we will print 250 LOL.

My car is a rain or shine vehicle but I've seen quite a few sunshine only cars in my travels. My next show is indoors but I still have to drive 250+ miles to get there.

Can you send some of that 50s and 60s weather my way? I just got done with 2 hours of yard work and it's 94 with heat index of 109. Good thing I went out before it got hot.

Ouch; it is hot where you are. Too hot for me. Here’s a picture at the show yesterday while I was caught cleaning my wheels. Not to worry about that bath towel, e.g., strictly a kneeling pad.

Our show has one rule I absolutely love, and without exception except for bird droppings which you can remove at any time, rags down at 10:00 AM — not even California dusters after then. What I like about that is that even the OCD’s get away from their cars, visit others, instead of wanting to return every 30 minutes to do more dusting. Very “freeing.”

I was asked about our selling shirts, and for a wide variety of reasons we will not be doing that as a forum, but anyone can directly purchase one of these Nike Dri-Fit polo shirts, in any of the 10+ colors they have, with the embroidery included in any one of over 40 thread colors (you mix and match) at a cost of about $60 shipped each. Quality on mine has been superlative. If interested, PM me please.

Gong to a Corvette show is our hobby. In the south the indoor shows are great. In the PNW I liked the outdoor shows. I sure wish we could attend a Corvette show in Oregon or the Seattle area. The clean environment of the north west is the best IMHO. Charlie aka cutnout

Great pics from the show, thanks for posting them. Your "rags down" rule makes a lot of sense. Less polishing, more socializing!

Also, nice plate on your Z-06 John!
