  • Just 15 miles: GS Wrecked

First, a thank you for CorvetteBlogger for sharing this today. Very sad, a person it seems going to fast on an entrance ramp to an interstate in South Dakota. Thankfully the driver was uninsured. BTW, this vehicle now at auction at $8,600.

Uninsured, or Un-injured?! Hopefully Insured and Uninjured! But holy **** - i just dont know how this can happen unless u take off all the nannies. My Stingray which is basically the same engine never seems to get wonky when i hit it fairly hard merging... Maybe automatic and when it downshifted it spun out?

Perhaps the driver was showing off, and/or only having previously only come from a 160 HP front driver. Or as was stated by Tadge (though he toned it down for public consumption), “no matter we do, we can not make up for driver stupidity” (again my paraphrase of his much milder, but saying the same thing, comment).

I'll have to agree with you John, most likely he was showing off or just not familiar enough with his new car but he HAD to see what it would do . I can't say that that I've never done anything stupid before but nothing like this .
He's definitely " learned something new everyday " but the most important thing is that he didn't get hurt ...

John, I hate to see any Masterpiece wrecked, but my concern will always be for the driver and passengers safety and well being. I would think that all the salvageable parts are worth more than $8,600 or was that the starting bid?

That is a starting bid. I agree that there are going to be salveable parts worth way more than that.

I thought the on-board computer kept the governor on for the first 500 miles. Pretty crazy if he managed to get that far out of control and didn't even have full power.

As Tadge noted, and I am paraphrasing here for he said the same content using way more PC language, his specifically referring to the car’s safety systems (yaw control, traction’s control, ABS, etc,), “we can not make up for stupid.”

                  "Ain't that the truth"
I'll bet that's a frustrating part of Tadge's job. You dedicate yourself to building a world class driving machine and then see people do dumb stuff with it!

This was a pretty serious accident and you can see in the pic that the airbags also deployed. I'm assuming he meant insured. Regardless, it was funny to see the "hood open" message... and no hood.

What Tadge actually said, mentioning those who enter a 40 MPH corner at over 100 MPH, “we can not make up for the laws of physics.”
