  • CA license plates

    Saw a post on another forum where California is requiring as of 1/19 that dealers install both license plates before the car leaves the lot and the front holder would be something where holes have to be drilled in front fascia of your Corvette.
    Doesnt affect me but has anyone heard this.

    Good to live in PA. None required.

    Front license plates really serve little purpose other than police on the other side of the road. They do make front ends just look dang ugly.

      Even if the CA decision were to expand to others states, which many doubt, there is an OEM way to install Corvette license plates without any drilling. And then for the owner to easily remove them once the car is off the dealer’s lot.

      Two of our members just went through this, and now have not only no front plates, but no damage as a result of the dealership installing the plate mounting mechanisms.

        Mine came with the mounting bracket and plate holder. It's lost in the garage somewhere.

          Yes to the above guys but the dealer told this guy the holder they had to use requires drilling.

            And why we do not trust a dealer until they are very top dealer who knows exactly what they are doing. And why I personally live at the dealership, bringing them donuts and more the weeks before my car arrives, insuring they are educated, and re-educated as to what will and what will NOT be happening on my Corvette when it arrives. As in...

            1) Don’t wash it;

            2) Do not affix a single thing onto it;

            3) I reward with a large tip anyone who listens to these two directions.

              I'd tell the dealer if they drill holes in my car I'm suing them for vandalism. If they do it before I take delivery, they can keep the car, and I'll sue to get my deposit back.

                I like that tact. My dealer knew I was not picking up my car if even the license plate frame for the rear of the car had been installed, let alone the front one.
