Shocking that they would give into this. I would have thought "fake engine noise" was anathema to any red-blooded sports car fan!!! :-)

I am sure my opinion will stir some, but here is my take on it. Driving a sports car is exciting because of the accelerations that are felt and the sound you hear. As long as the sound correlates to acceleration, I see no issue in it being produced electronically as opposed to mechanically. The acceleration of an EV will be phenomenal but the experience will be lessened if the audio aspect is removed. Assuming that Corvette will truly end up full EV, I am glad they are addressing the audio aspect of the experience.

I'm certain 20, 25 or 30 years from now, the Sound and Performance of Vehicles will have a totally different meaning than it does now.

... and I highly doubt I'll care, because I'll be lucky to pass a Drivers Test. 😁

Actually the ferrari 296 has a panel thats open in the rear bulkhead to allow the engine sound into the cabin for driver enjoyment. Wish the c8 had that.

I saw something the other day than Lamborghini has applied for a patent to reproduce the sound of a V12 on electric cars.

I can't stand piped in sounds of any kind. I don't like the electric motor sounds GM pipes into the cabin of the Hummer EV and E Ray. Piping in internal combustion sounds in full EV's is even worse.

I want either loud in your face natural sound from the engine or the thrill of the acceleration in complete and utter silence or natural electric whine from the motor.

Perhaps GM will allow you to mute the piped in sound. Who knows, you may end up paying for subscriptions for different sounds. Seems like everything these days is headed the subscription route.

E Ray's case you can from a video I have seen. But it also quiets down the LT2( closing the valves). So if you want to hear the LT2, need to accept the electric motor sound getting piped in.

The jet engine sound as the car accelerates getting louder and louder cracks me up. Thats one of the best parts of electric and hybrid vehicles that offer that.

if it was loud enough in sport Id have no problem deciding between the ultra rare z06 and what I believe will be a volume wide body eray.

for some reason I believe the metals in the z06 engine build are what might be scarce which is what might be holding up z06 production otherwose gm should have a boatload of lt6 motors ready to go.

the lt6 sounded freaking awesome. Then again so did the eray cockpit in the last round of youtube videos.

the ferrari 296 had a special slot through the fire wall to let engine sound into the cockpit on the turbo v6

wish the c8 stingray had that. I wouldnt even bother buying a z06. The performance of the stingray is so far above what many of us need. Its pretty darn quick..

Yes. A really annoying (to me) high pitched whine. Imagine a slot car or electric RC car on steroids.
