Ok finally took the FAA 107 test for unmanned aircraft otherwise known as drones........and passed it. Whew. I'm not a pilot so it took me a month to watch some videos, study the FAA guide, get a study app and take many many many test exams.

Now I'm curious how many others are licensed here too? And what do you fly?

I'm actually looking to start a real business here excited about a new venture.

Lastly, I will be bringing my Mavic Pro everywhere so come say hi when we're out and about and let's get some cool footage.

Congrats on that. Love the way RF is so important. Your F-4 pilot father would be proud.

Ok, help me out here. What does the FAA 107 rating allow you to do. We fly a DJI Phantom Pro and do not have any licensing. Of course, we fly responsibly and with care .

Great question. If you fly a drone for economic benefit you need to have the Part 107 license. Example only: a real estate agent uses his own drone to photo the houses he list....he needs to get the license per the FAA.

I am starting a business with some friends so it's all commercial activity, which is required to be licensed. If it's just a hobby for you then if the drone wieghs more than 0.55lbs it has to registered with the FAA but no license needed. See www.faa.gov as it's got a entire drone area.
