CORVETTE TODAY - Kevin Mackay Talks About The Cunningham Corvette & Bringing It Back To Life

In 1960, Briggs Cunningham took 3 Corvettes to France to race at Le Mans. After that race, the cars were brought back to the United States, put back to original and sold to consumers. The #3 car was recovered about put back to the way it was when it raced in 1960 at Le Mans and is owned by a private owner. https://youtu.be/_g_9Eah8pS8; https://podcasts.adorilabs.com/corve...FbtXiohpLYxLCh The car is owned by Bruce Meyers of the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. But what happened to the car? After a long legal battle, Kevin Mackay from Corvette Repair in Long Island, New York, has been putting this historic Corvette back to it's original 1960 livery for the past year (after it was purchased by Briggs Cunningham's family at auction). Kevin comes back on CORVETTE TODAY to tell the story of the Cunningham Corvette and to tell you when and where you can see this car...with its two siblings! And more than a few of us, including me, are over 70 (though still functioning and acting “young”). This “average buyers’ age issue” is one of the two primary reasons why the mid engine Corvette, after 60 years of discussing it, building prototype Corvette ME’s, is coming fairly soon — for sale as we all know next year.

Of,course we also know the second major reason why the mid engine is coming, is that it is getting more and more difficult to “get the power down” as C7’s got more and more powerful. I repeatedly talk about throttle modulation on my C7 Z06, and my drive two days ago in lower 40 and just touching 50 degree weather (still a sunny day with dry pavement), was throttle modulation most every mile of the trip.

thinking about two seat 60 odd grand sports cars is a pipe dream

Realizing your post was tongue in cheek, the C7 came with a matching luggage set, BTW, at a way lower price, and most of us expect a similar luggage set as a C8 option.

Porsche, $1,000 for your one suitcase costs more than the five piece set for the C7. Ah yes, the Porsche tax.
