  • Creating A Super Useful/Informative DIY — Including For Sharing Mod Info

DIY’s are exciting and helpful tools to other forum members learn what you have done. Here, historically based on my viewing many “How To’s” over the years, is what IMO makes a DIY change from “nice information,” to a super useful and constructive one.

Many C8 mods are ahead, so as we do them, let’s share our learnings/knowledge with other members.

Thanks for considering the following suggestions as to how you can best help other MECF members learn — so their project goes smoothly.
    1. Intro/Purpose statement: What are you going to help us accomplish by our following your DIY, “To Inexpensively Change The Color Of Factory Interior Stitching.”
    2. Your estimate of how difficult it would be, e.g. from, “easy” to “advanced mechanical skills needed.”
    3. Pictures: Lots of them please, including close ups when helpful. Include a video please if you are so skilled. If you have a YouTube video that was helpful, please include it too.
    4. Include a parts list, including not just where you bought it, but please consider also: specific links, part/item numbers, and pricing for each.
    5. Tips along the way, especially safety ones, e.g., “First, disconnect your battery negative,” or “jackstands imperative at this point.” Tips can also be cautions: “While at this point it might seem best to install X now, that should be held off until you first insert the flux capacitor.”
    6. Linking if appropriate to other MECF forum threads, e.g., “for my complete C8 build thread, please click here, “xxxx.”

Thanks for thinking about these, and when you are writing up your DIY, please include as many of these are you as your can, in as much detail as you can.

If anyone has additional suggestions, please post them below — and in turn I will re-write this OP to include them.

    Thank you!
