I did not realize how badly IMSA puts the screws on the Porsche until the race started. Yet there are still teams that think every single Porsche is sandbagging to get a more favorable BoP for Sebring. That is ridiculous. Throw away the crown jewel of the season to get better BoP, ridiculous.

Yes, that is ridiculous. No one gives up on a chance to win the Rolex 24, which is second only to Le Mans in the worldwide racing world. Overnight, the IMSA Radio commentators, who are closest to what's going with more inside knowledge, were talking about their interviews with various Porsche teams. They mentioned they asked about BOP at which point they were clearly very unhappy, but declined to criticize IMSA, which is a smart move.

If anyone was "sandbagging" in GTD-Pro, my assessment is that it was the Corvette team in qualifying and pre-race testing. Right now, they have more straight-line speed than anyone else and have been consistently running 1st in class, except for their tire incident after which they made up 2 laps.

I follow one of the PR reps on Twitter that works with a lot of teams, including some Porsche GTD teams, they are not happy. One of the photogs that I follow also has a Porsche GTD client and the team owner is not happy. Publicly they are not criticizing IMSA, but I think we will see a very different race for the Porsches at Sebring.

Another IMSA race and as ALWAYS, someone is complaining about BOP. Porsche has been the car to beat the last couple of years. Amazing how some fans act surprised when BOP goes against the team that dominated the previous season. There will be future adjustments to help some teams and slow others down. Porsche as a whole was not really competitive in any class at Daytona. I have no doubt that will change in the future.

The C8 R at Daytona was kind of boring. They won’t let that engine sing It’s gorgeous sound. Limit the red line to 7000 and 540 hp at 2915 lbs. It’s just buzzing around the track without the incredible sound. Us fans love the sounds at the race. Boy that DOHC Cadillac sounded good at 8800 red line and 680 hp. 2260 lbs. The sound could be heard all over the track once it hit the banked oval. Amazing is all could say to my wife.

Without BOP, there would be no GT racing, and limiting how much an engine can rev is one way of balancing HP within a class (GTD) of vastly different engine displacements. A smaller displacement engine likely has no rev limitations.

The Cadillacs are in the GTP ("Hypercar") class with a much higher power allowance.
