When the race is not over and so close, it's not a spoiler. Giving the results at the end would be for those who recorded it for later viewing, but those folks shouldn't be clicking on these threads.

I agree. What else would you expect if you click on a thread concerning a race that is IN PROGRESS? Don’t open the thread and go watch it on TV. Good job Corvette team on a 2nd place finish!! The Mercedes was the car to beat from the start.Last edited by Vette Interested; 01-29-2023, 01:41 PM.

The new GT3.R is artificially limited to 525hp via air intake restrictions. That is only 30hp more than a 50-state emissions legal Z51 SR. This for a street car that produces 670hp naturally aspirated from the factory.
For the budget price of $735,000 you can buy one and race it. If a mere 20 billionaires buy one ― they don't even need to race it, just buy it ― the car becomes qualified for Le Mans. Where are America's patriotic billionaires? Come on people, one in your collection would give you bragging rights unparalleled in America!
What was the point of developing a true super car only to have IMSA and the ACO kneecap it?

Yes it was. To beat 8 other teams is no mean feat. Is there anywhere that I can find the race detail for the corvette team inluding things like...
* when each driver was driving,
* any major events during their time behind the wheel,
* each drivers position in class when they took over driving responsibility and when they

Actually if you combine both drivers classes the corvette came in 4th. Average showing in my book. The corvette just didn’t have the pace but hopefully BOP can adjust that for Sebring.
Get those customers C8R cars built for next year. The Cadillac sounded so good out on the track. That 5.5 DOHC engine revs to 8800 rpm’s. Put that engine in a GS corvette and call it a day.Attached FilesLast edited by MikeC8; 01-30-2023, 11:34 AM.2023 HTC. Black/ black TPW 3/27

The current C8R is the only car in the GTD class that does not comply with GTD rules because it was built as a GTLM car. Corvette Racing's 2-year exemption expires at the end of this season. The only other choice would be for Corvette to withdraw from worldwide organized GT racing.
As for your other observations about BOP "penalties", there would be no organized GT racing series if cars weren't balanced for performance. There are power limitations, and the street Z06 is way over the GTD limit. History has repeatedly shown that if a single brand becomes dominant, everyone else goes home, and the series dies.

I hope that the Sebring race is very competitive, with every time having a good chance to do well.2023 Z06: Hypersonic Gray HTC, two tone blue interior, CCB’s, 3LZ, E60, and with every visible carbon fiber option order-able including wheels. The chart I found only goes back to 2014. Going further back, C6R was more dominant in the predecessor series (ALMS) as it was dying because of lack of competition. It was essentially 2 C6Rs in the GT class racing each other near the end. GTLM died because both Ford GT, then Porsche pulled out, and IMSA couldn't attract replacement manufacturers.
If you look at today's list of the combined GTD class, where Pro and Pro-Am cars operate under the same specs, it's now very healthy and diverse, with a very level playing field. Most of last season in GTD, there was a different manufacturer winner almost every event.
However, you're right that over the last 9 years, Corvette and Porsche are tied 4-to-4 in manufacturer titles in GTLM, with Ford being the only other manufacturer to win one. Porsche competed in both GTLM and GTD with two different cars. Chevrolet never competed in GTD until last year when they had no other choice to run in the US.Last edited by Foosh; 01-30-2023, 03:22 PM.
