December 20, 2018 IMSA revealed this week the tire allocations for all WeatherTech SportsCar Championship classes in 2019, including the Michelin-specific compound and maximum of tires permitted for each event.

The details were released in a competition bulletin to teams on Wednesday and will take effect during the Roar Before the 24 at Daytona and run through the entire 12-event schedule.

The specifics were best detailed in a SportsCar365 report:

DPi and LMP2 cars will run on identical semi-confidential tires throughout the season, alternating between IMSA-specific medium and hard compounds.

Medium compounds are set to be used for the first five races of the season, as well as the Motul Petit Le Mans, with the hard compound for the summertime rounds at Watkins Glen International, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Road America, as well as at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

The same season-split will be used for GT Daytona, with the exception of Laguna Seca, which will use the softer S8 compound, with the S9 declared for the GT-only races at Lime Rock Park and Virginia International Raceway.

The GT Le Mans class, which remains an open-tire category although set to remain Michelin-only next year, will have options of three different compounds per manufacturer, which have been declared following Michelin On-Track Opportunities at multiple venues this year.

As is always the case, IMSA regulations allow the series or official tire partner to make in-season adjustments if necessary.
