  • 3 ELB Pace Cars for Road America

Located in Elkhart Lake, WI, very cool for Road America to just buy three 2019 ELB Corvettes for its Pace Carts.

One of the most famous road courses in America has just expanded its fleet of C7 Corvette pace cars for 2019.

Road America recently acquired three Elkhart Lake Blue C7 Corvette Stingrays from local dealership Sheboygan Chevrolet in Wisconsin. The track plans to outfit the vehicles with the customary Road America pace car decals before putting them to work all season long in 2019.

As you may know, Road America is located in the town of Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Elkhart Lake Blue is intended to pay homage to the bright blue waters of Elkhart Lake and is slightly brighter than the Admiral Blue hue that was previously available on the C7 Corvette. A version of Elkhart Lake Blue was also offered on the Corvette for the 1967 model year.

Road America is not only one of the fan-favorite tracks in America, it is historically a successful place for General Motors and Corvette Racing, with the team having won multiple times at the 4.048-mile, 14-turn circuit since 2002. Chevrolet as a brand also has a rich history at the track. Top executives and engineers used to use the circuit to test upcoming products and it has even hosted Chevy vehicle debuts, including that of Bill Mitchell’s 1961 Corvette Mako Shark concept.

“If we look at all the racetracks on which we compete and the history that Corvette Racing has enjoyed at each of them, you could make the claim that none are more important than Road America,” said Corvette Racing team boss Doug Fehan. “Elkhart Lake was the site of the very first Corvette Corral. You have the iconic Corvette Bridge, the Kettle Morraine, the food the people… all those things and more.”

Corvette Racing will visit road America with the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship on Sunday, August 4th, 2019. Road America race attendees can keep eye out for the Elkhart Lake Blue C7 Corvette pace cars all year long.

I learn something here every day. I did not know there was a 1967 Elkhart Blue.

Thanks Brad. I believe might have been the first one I have seen, certainly the first Elkhart Blue I remember seeing.
