~Even though Zora Duntov was born in Belgium his parents were Russian and his thick Russian accent proved out every time we spoke.
I was fortunate to work for the Malcolm Konner Auto Group in Paramus, NJ from 1978-1989 and every Summer the Konner family would host
Zora and Elfie Duntov at their home in Ridgewood, NJ. It was during those car show weeks that I got to speak to Zora just like it was any
normal conversation on the back porch. His thick accent was rich in tone and his words were always to the point. Even back then he would
say that "all the "Press" articles on the Mid Engine Sold Magazines not Corvettes" I can remember it like it was yesterday as it seemed
to always be the Elephant in the room. One funny story...Gary Konner recently told me...back in the late 80's he made a seating mistake at a Dinner at his home
by putting Larry Shinoda next to Zora Duntov at the family dinner table...boy that didn't go well as Zora still was mad that Shinoda left Chevrolet (20+ years earlier) for
that other named brand!
I had many Zora, Shinoda etc signed items lost because of Hurricane Sandy October 2012 but managed to save a few items and have rebuilt my collection...but
my memories of those Summers from so long ago can never be taken from me. I wonder what Mr Duntov would think now that we are oh so close to seeing a Mid Engine Corvette
for 2020? ...and what would he think of the internet and this Mid Engine Corvette Forum?
