The C5 Z06 was a big step forward at the time. Like the Future C8. Hence my interest.

Very few for sale up here right now.

I would recommend only the 405 hp engine. The 385 hp motor had rings issues. Just heads up

Thanks for that precise caution. I was unaware of the 385 having issues. Will be very useful info to a prospective purchaser. All my friends who have one, have 405 in theirs, never had an issue, and that might be why I did not know that.

              Thank you.

Yes ..the extra cost for a 2002 model is a smarter purchase...

of course a friend just had to have speedway white so he happily has a 2001 with cam, heads, headers and no issue...

that said back in 2001 both bmw and corvette had rings that on light loads had oil bypassing the low friction rings...

buy a 2002 for a few dollars more...it makes 55 hp more than the base c5 as opposed to the 35 more hpthat the 2001 made...

unless of course you just have to have speedway white.,

giod luck..my favorite sports car ive owned over the past 40 years was my 2001 c5 z06 ... Click image for larger version

The silver one I pictured on the previous page is a 2004 with 20,000 miles. Asking $28,000 USD equivalent.

The internet forums are a great source of info on cars and their issues. Sounds like the last year 2004 is the best of the lot when it comes to C5 Z06's.

I just need more garage space.

I think 28 grand for a 14 year old car that sold for 50 brand new is a poor deal...unless its an emotional purchase...

mileage means nothing to these cars...save half and buy a c5 z06 with mileage...

                    unless you are a collector?

as a driver sports car to be used,,,the mileage doesnt change how the car drives...

im telling you...these cars hold up like new...

its only the crappy german supposedly engineering marvels that fall apart above 50k to 100 k miles...(kidding)
